Ijesa Vocational & Entrepreneurship Training Program (IVETP)

The Ijesa Vocational & Entrepreneurship Training Program (IVETP) is one of the flagship projects of the Ijesa Development Council, (IDC) whose purpose is to transform the economic landscape of Ijesaland by catalyzing and building the institutional capacity of local Ijesa community-based organizations (CBOs) to provide Ijesa youths with 21st century relevant and high-in-demand vocational and entrepreneurial skills to become productive and contributing citizens through gainful employment and new business starts-ups.

Our Model

The IVETP does not seek to transform the IDC as the provider of vocational and entrepreneurship training for Ijesa youths. The IVETP will adopt the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) TREE (Training for Rural Economic Empowerment) model. The IVETP program will solicit grant proposals and award matching grants to motivate and catalyze Ijesa Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) (educational institutions, trade groups, non-profits, social-cultural associations, community development clubs, and local chambers of commerce) to train Ijesa youths in various career and entrepreneurship pathways that are closely aligned to the needs of the local communities and relevant to the 21st century digital economy. The IVETP will be based on the principles of decentralization, community empowerment and ownership, and equitable provision of grant funds to organizations representative of the six Ijesaland local government areas. The IDC IVETP Steering Committee will have full operational and management control over the IVETP

OBJECTIVES

By the year 2025, the program would have provided vocational and entrepreneurial skills training to 600 young people across the six Ijesaland LGAs. Additionally, it will analyze the skill needs and deficits, and industry requirements for the Ijesaland economy and the broader economy. Furthermore, it will analyze the existing institutional capacity of CBOs to provide relevant training to fill the skill gaps and deficits. Moreover, it will identify CBOs with the capacity to deliver vocational training in the identified and prioritized industries and skill domains. Finally, it will set up the management structure to manage the award of grants, the implementation, and evaluation of vocational and entrepreneurial training programs.

Call for Pre-proposal

The IDC IVETP invites Ijesa-affiliated CBOs and training Institutions to submit an expression of interest (a pre-proposal) for participation in the partnership program for training and empowerment of youth in Ijesaland. The following categories of CBOs and Institutions are eligible to submit pre-proposal: educational institutions, training institutions, trade groups, non-profits organisations, social-cultural associations, community development clubs, and local chambers of commerce. The pre-proposal is a critically important first step to become eligible for grant funding under the IVETP.

The Pre-proposal, which should not exceed a maximum of three pages, double space, and should aim to succinctly make a compelling case why the proposed project should be funded under the IDC IVETP. The pre-proposal will be evaluated on the basis of capability and willingness to participate in the training partnership, the relevance of proposed training types and location and the resource profile of the organization. This would be used to determine eligible CBOs to proceed to full proposal submission. Only those CBOs and institutions whose pre-proposals are shortlisted will be invited to submit full proposal for grant fund. Pre-proposal is to be submitted via this website or alternatively by email to …………… Pre-Proposal Submission close on …………..
