PROFILE OF DR ADEWALE J. ALONGE

Adewale holds a First-Class Honor degree in Agriculture from the University of Nigeria, and M.S. & PhD in Agricultural & Extension Education and a minor in Technology & Social Change from the Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa USA. He received in 1990-91 both the Rockefeller Foundation & IITA dissertation research fellowship on Fadama rice technology in Niger State with IITA. Dr. Alonge recently retired after 44 years in the education sector, the last 30 years in the Miami-Dade County in Florida. He was a visiting US Fulbright professor of entrepreneurship at the Palestinian Polytechnics in Hebron in 2019 and an adjunct lecturer in Earth Sciences at the Florida International University, Miami. Among his several professional awards included two times recipient of the Japanese Fulbright Fellowship, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) de La Garza fellowship, and finalist for the US Department of Energy Albert Einstein Distinguished US STEM educator fellowship. Adewale has served as a member of the Advisory Committee to the Florida Secretary (Commissioner) of Education. He was the 2022 Martin Luther King Distinguished Educator Award. From 2009-2010, Dr. Alonge served as a U.S. Department of Education Educator Ambassador Fellow to work on K-12 education reform for the US. He was a member of the US-Japan Panel of Experts on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). Adewale is well published and served for ten years as a member of the editorial board for the Journal of International Agricultural and Extension Education (JIAEE). Dr. Alonge is the founder and president of Africa-Diaspora Partnership for Empowerment & Development (www.ADPED.org), a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization. He is President of the Egbe Omo Oduduwa of South Florida, and the Florida Association of Egbe Omo Obokun Inc and Vice President Ijesa Global Alliance for Development. He is also an entrepreneur and CEO of ADF Global and Palmetto Suites Hotel in Ibadan.
