PROFILE OF PROFESSOR FOLUSO OKUMADEWA

Prof. Foluso Okunmadewa has a very rich public, international and community service experience. He taught for more than 18 years in the Department of Agricultural Economics of the University of Ibadan and provided consultancy services to such institutions as the defunct National Planning Commission. Fed. Min. of Environment, UNICEF, FAO, ISNAR, UNDP, DFID (now FCDO) and EU. He served as Researcher/Consultant on the UN team of experts on Food Security and Nutrition in 1990 - 1992. Has published over 60 articles in national and international academic journals and chapters in books as at 2005. He along with other experts has also produced not less than 15 technical reports for the Federal Government and International Agencies in the same period. His publications and mentions as ata 2023 hovers around 150. Prof Okunmadewa joined World Bank as short-term consultant in 1993 and became full staff in 2000. He retired from the World Bank in January 2024 after serving in several positions and leading task teams in more than 10 notable projects. He also supported teams in Uganda, Burundi and India. Prof Okunmadewa as a development worker has expertise in translating research into projects and interventions. His major skills are in participatory planning, community driven development interventions, Monitoring and Evaluation, Social Protection, Youth Empowerment and Employment. Prof Okunmadewa is an erudite scholar, an excellent teacher, a policy analyst and an outstanding development worker, He is a member of national and local level socio-philantropic, and community development organisations. He is also a Christian, a Leader in New Covenant Church and happily married to Mrs. Oluyemisi Okunmadewa (nee Ogunbiyi) and blessed with children and grandchildren.
